It’s no secret that I have too much make-up. I’m hoping to use these “collection” posts to catalog what I have, what I want to keep, and what I want to get rid of. Today I start by swatching all my red lip products.
Lip liners:
- NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Hot Red. true to its name, it’s a warmer, more pink-based red. VERDICT: Keep and use with warmer red lipsticks.
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Mrs. Mia Wallace. this is soo creamy and smooth. It’s more of a blue-based red. VERDICT: Keep and use with cooler red lipsticks.
The ironic thing is that I have two red lip liners, when red is one of the lip colors that I find I don’t really need a lip liner for. I don’t think I will need to replace either of these for a loooong time, given that I wear red lipstick so infrequently already.
Balms/Sheer Coverage:
- Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple. I bought this out of curiosity since the lip butters get great reviews, but I should’ve known it wouldn’t really show up on my pigmented lips and dark skin. VERDICT: Keep for light make-up days, and don’t buy anything else in this category of sheer reds.
- Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Romantic. It’s a little warmer than Candy Apple. VERDICT: Use up.
- Be A Bombshell Lip Balm in Ruby. Sheerer than the other two. VERDICT: Keep as a lip balm.
Ultimately, these are all fairly sheer coverage, and my lips are pigmented so they wouldn’t show up much anyway, so I’m going to try to use up the Balm Stain, and not buy any more sheer-coverage reds. I can use the lip balm in the mornings when I prep my lips. I don’t really like sheer coverage lip products anyway, so that’s that.
